M5L6: Danger of alcohol
Now
in the previous lecture, recall that we talked about Alcohol as a diurectic. Now
why does a person, tend to urinate more after consuming alcohol?
When
an organic material starts decomposing, it creates aflatoxins during the
process of fermentation. So while converting such products into alcohol, a lot
of such toxins enter into it. When a person consumes alcohol, these toxins
start entering his blood
The
brain recognises that these toxins are harmful to the body. It immediately
instructs liver to work at highest capacities to flush them out in the form of
liquid waste. This liquid waste can be either sweat or urine. This makes
alcohol a diuretic. Additionally, when the person consumes alcohol, his body
sweats a lot to release the same.
In
order to detect alcohol, biosensors known as breath analysers are used.
